How are stars grouped?
Stars are grouped together in galaxies. A galaxy is a large group of stars held together by gravity.
Spiral Galaxy
A spiral galaxy like the picture above is tightly or loosy wound. It has a lot of dust.
Elliptical Galaxy
An elliptical galaxy is football or basketball shaped - it has no spirals and has little or no dust.
Irregular Galaxy
An irregular galaxy does not have any recognizable shape. This type of galaxy may have been in a collision with another galaxy.
Milky Way
We are in the Milky Way galaxy
